It's more inclusive and gives players the control over how they look rather than being stuck in the binary.Įspecially since the binary gender choice is 100% about aesthetics and 0% related to actual game mechanics (romance options aren't gender locked, player character is referred to with they/them pronouns if pronouns end up being relevant at all regardless of gender, you can pick any voice for any character regardless of gender, etc), it would be nice to see it taken all the way and have everything accessible to every player character regardless of gender (would be cool to have a male Builder able to wear one of those cute Sandrunning skirts, for example, you know? Or conversely, if I have a female Builder who is not interested in wearing skirts but IS interested in more casual outfits, the options there also become more limited because of certain small details being gender locked) In "Grow: Song of the Evertree," you can appear female, but have facial hair.
